Sarah Ann Norris was the daughter of William Roland "Billy" Norris and Mary Elizabeth "Polly" Jones Norris. She grew up in Oak Hill, Tennessee. Her family were some of the first white setters in Oak Hill, Overton County, Tennessee.

Sarah married Jerry Lawson on Jun 14, 1866 in Clinton Co. Kentucky. Jerry already had one boy Randle, by a previous marriage. My great grandmother Nancy was born the next year. Sarah and Jerry had ten known children that lived to adulthood. One known baby J.L. died at 1 year in Clinton Co. Kentucky. Seven more were born in Clinton County, Kentucky, Then many of the Lawsons with others migrated to Erath County, Texas between 1880 and 1883. Their last three children were born in Erath County, Texas. Sarah died in 1893 when the youngest was only 2 years old. Jerry was 10 years older than Sarah and he did not remarry. I have heard that Jerry left for awhile and no one knew where he was. Some of the younger children stayed with Adam Granville Lawson, the oldest boy that was already married. Jerry did return but died in 1897.

If anyone in Erath Co. and is ever at Pony Creek Cemetery. Please see if you can read what is written at the bottom. It looks like more names and death dates.

It looks to me (from the photo) that it says "Gone but not forgotten"
