Heart Attack Claims Postmaster At Marysvale Tuesday
Marysvale - Funeral services for Sylvester Charles Scott, 54, Marysvale postmaster for the past eight years, who died at this home here Tuesday night of a heart attack, are pending.
He was born at Peterson canyon, Salt Lake county, August 14, 1900, a son of George Grow and Sarah Miles Scott. He attended school in Salt Lake City where he graduated from high school.
A veteran of World War I, he rose to the rank of sergeant in the U. S. Army. He was one of the organizers of the American Legion post in Marysvale.
He also was a member of the Marysvale Lions club.
He was a member of the LDS church.
On Sept. 29, 1922 he married Minnie Heyn at Lost Angeles.
A resident of Marysvale for the past 21 years, in 1946 he was appointed postmaster there.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Darlene Gray, Heber; and Mrs. Verna Rosequist, Mesa, Ariz.; three brothers, Lee Scott, Lehi; Walter Scott, Stone, Ida.; and Alvin Scott, Aberdeen, Ida.; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Hess, Jerome, Ida.; and Mrs. Emma James, Preston, Ida.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being made by the Peterson mortuary of Richfield.
