Calvin A Davis, 88, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. N. R. Bell of 1009 W. Chase Street, Tuesday night.
Mr. Davis was a retired farmer, a native of Monroe County, Alabama, and had been a resident of Escambia County for the last 50 years.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Maggie Bell of Pensacola, Mrs. Bessie Baker of Oak Grove, Mrs. Myrtie Swindle of Prichard, Ala., and Mrs. Etta Graham of Barrineau Park; five sons, Cobie Davis, Elmore Davis and Ozzie Davis, all of Pensacola, J. B. Davis of Plateau, Ala.; and Homer Davis of Davisville, Fla.; 29 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be announced by Fisher-Pou Funeral Service.

Funeral services for Colonel A. Davis, 88, who died Tuesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. N. R. Bell, of 1009 W. Chase St., will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pine Barren Baptist Church at Davisville with the Revs. Gerald H. Walker, W. H. Hogan, and J. C. Davis officiating. The funeral cortege will leave the home of Mrs. Bell, 1009 W. Chase St., at noon Thursday.
Honorary pallbearers will be J. F. Odom, E. A Handrop, J. H. Cherry, Sr., Raymond Keller, Marshall Mcell, Malcolm Garrett, Joe Coney, Grady Graham, W. L. Justice, George Driver Jr., and Charlie Malden.
Active pallbearers will be nephews: Arthur Bell, Ernest Graham, Harvey Gillis, Jasper Davis, Ronald Davis, and Pat Bell.
Burial will be in the Little Pine Barren Cemetery at Davisville, with Barton Funeral Home of Atmore directing.
