Morris L (Morrey) Wendte (80), of Anchorage, Alaska, died suddenly while working in his yard.
Mr. Wendte was born April 22, 1924, in Dixon County, Nebraska, to William H. and Anna Wendte. He attended public school and graduated from high school in Ponca, NB.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944, serving in WWII, as a MM3 aboard and was honorably discharged in 1946 with the Victory in the Asiatic Pacific.

He owned and operated Wendte Hardware store in Lake Mills, IA, for many years. In 1949, he homesteaded in Anchorage, AK. He worked at Caribou Wards and Northern Commercial in the sporting goods department and at EAFB. Morrey also enjoyed land development in Anchorage and in the Matsu Valley.
His family said, "Morrey was a wonderful husband and companion. He loved to hunt, fish and the outdoors. He loved to tinker with anything with two or more parts. He was always helping friends and neighbors, anyone in need. He was there for everyone. He will be greatly missed and his passing will affect our lives greatly.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores West Wendte; son, Ronald W. Wendte, Anchorage AK; stepdaughter. Sherry Aucoin, Lindon; stepson, E. Craig (Stephanie) Green, Pleasant Grove; sister, Lois (Harold) Wendt; grandchildren: Michelle Watkins, Turtle, OK; Brett M. (Kelly) Lloyd, Payson; Brian M. (Larrisa) Lloyd, Lindon; Darren (Heather) Lloyd, Pleasant Grove; Jeffery (Heather) Green, Am. Fork; Jeremy (Angela) Green, Lehi; Jonathan (Jillene) Green, Mona; Derek (Eileen) Green, Lehi; Bryson Green, Pleasant Grove; great-grandchildren, Keely Alters of Chickasha, OK; Tayelar, Tanner, Gentri, Brileigh Lloyd; Emmett, Jessica, Maddison, Jordan, Samantha Green, all of Utah.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rick Wendte; sister, Helen Bossman; and former wife, Ruth Pease.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 6, 2004, at 1 p.m., in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, where friends may call one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the District IV of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
