Bennie Hoover Bacon, 77, died Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at Hospice Savannah. The Tattnall County native had lived in Savannah for the past 38 years. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force after 20 years of service and from Civil Service at Hunter Army Airfield. He was of the Baptist faith, and was preceded in death by his parents, Willie A. Bacon, Sr., and Pearl Caison Bacon; his wife, Betty Bacon; and a brother, Hollis Bacon.
He is survived by sons, Brian Bacon of Coral Springs, Florida, and Bennie Charles Bacon of Cape Coral, Florida; sisters: Frances Bouy, Willene Brewton, and Johnie Mitchell, all of Savannah, and Claudine Bland and Dorothy Durrence, both of Glennville; grandchildren: Kevin, Margaret, Luke, Laura, and Daniel Bacon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 14, at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home chapel, with Elder Jimmy Haire officiating. Burial was in Beards Creek Church Cemetery, with full military honors.
Pallbearers were Kevin Bacon, Matthew Bouy, Luke Bacon, Troy Bouy, Eric Brewton, and Steve Brooks.
