James Edward Nettles of Smith Point died at his home September 11, 2008 with his beloved family by his side.
He was born May 7, 1937 in Lincoln County, Mississippi the son of Walter Edward Nettles and Elizabeth Norwood Nettles. He worked a variety of jobs, last working in the Oil Field Production Industry, he was the proudest however, of his years with Coca-Cola. James was an active member with his wife of the First Baptist Church in Anahuac.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Edward Nettles, son Richard Nettles, daughter Debra Cobb and a sister Joyce Butler.

Survivors are his mother; his wife, Betty Joyce Gau Nettles, of Smith Point; his sons, Patrick and Paul Nettles; a brother, Jeff Nettles; his sisters, Peggy Smith, Kathleen Garren and Becky Furlow; his five grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
