Surviving are her five sons, Clifford Ray Hoots (wife, Lynne) of Bluffs, Larry George Hoots (wife, Delores) of Winchester, Albert Keith Hoots (wife, Linda) of Bluffs, Robert Lee Hoots (fiancée, Pam) of Bluffs and Donald Wayne Hoots (wife, Tammy) of Winchester; 13 grandchildren, Guy Hoots (companion, Tonya Mueller) of Bluffs, Lorrie (husband, Steve) Koch of Winchester, Kristi (husband, Kenneth) Miller of Dawson, Karla (husband, Edward) Little of Bluffs, Mark Hoots of Bluffs, Erica (husband, Michael) Smith of Chapin, Darren (wife, Rubi) Hoots of Winchester, Jeremy Hoots (wife, Lisa) of Winchester, Cheri Hoots (companion, Brian McGuire) of Chatham, Jason Hoots and Ryan Hoots, both of Jacksonville, and Chelsea Hoots and Courtney Hoots, both of Winchester; 13 great-grandchildren, Amanda Hoots of Pittsfield, Brett Hoots of Exeter, Linley Koch of Winchester, Joshua Littig, Emily Little and Luke Little, all of Bluffs, Shawna Hoots of Winchester, Eli Hoots of Bluffs, Rylee and Laiklyn McGuire of Chatham, and Clint, Morgan and Abigail Hoots, all of Winchester; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Kyle and Brooke Smith. Preceding her in death was her husband, George; a son, Ronald Eugene Hoots (surviving wife, Carol Hoots of Bluffs); two grandchildren, Clifford Mark Hoots and James E. Hoots; a sister, Marie Hoots; and seven brothers, Russell Ivan, Archie Monroe, James Howard, Ralph Richard, Paul Eugene, Eldon Lloyd and Floyd Dean McDade (surviving wife, Janet of Jacksonville).
She was a lifelong member of Bloomfield Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, often working along side her husband in the fields, and was a past Clerk for County Road District 5. Edith was a loving wife, mother, mother in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, as well as being a terrific cook. Nothing was more important to her than her family of which she was the last member of her generation.
Services were entrusted to Coonrod Funeral Home of Winchester, Illinois.
