Phema S. AGNEW, 93, of 4049 Avondale, died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday at Hendrick Medical Center.
Funeral services are pending with Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, U.S. Highway 277.
Born Dec. 21, 1891 in Cokesburg, ( - sic - COOKSBURG, Forest County ] Pa., she grew up there and was married to William Harrison AGNEW Oct. 30, 1916, in Hominy Ridge, Pa. They moved to Texas June 10, 1920, and settled in Caddo where they lived for three years. Then they lived in Texon until 1931 when she moved to Abilene. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1930 and by two children,
Mrs. Tully A. MAYER and ( Elizabeth Agnew)
William Robert (Billy) AGNEW.
Survivors include three daughters,
Beatrice A. SHACKLEFORD of 4049 Avondale, [ w/o Toby Shackleford, deceased]
Mrs. Grayson SMITH of Gig Harbor, Wash., [ Bernice Ann Agnew ]
Mrs. Gerry CANATSEY of Brentwood, MO.; [ May Bernell Agnew ]
a son,
John Burr AGNEW Sr. of Eden;
Two brothers,
Max SMATHERS and
Lawrence SMATHERS, both of Leeper, Pa.;
Four sisters:
Mrs. Hugh CROASUM of Springfield, Ohio; [ Vinnie Smathers ] surname spelled: Croasun
Mrs. Sid CROASUM of Youngstown, Ohio; [ Inez Smathers ]
Mrs. Myron BUHL of Cane, Pa. and [ Sarah Smathers ]
Mrs. Homer NEAL of Dundee, N.Y.; [ Helene Smathers ]

Mrs. AGNEW was born Dec 21, 1891 in COOKSBERG, Pa., and had lived in TEXON from 1923 until 1931,
when she moved to Abilene. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Abilene.
Survivors include three daughters, Beatrice A. SHACKLEFORD of Abilene, Mrs. Grayson SMITH of Gig Harbor, Wash.,
and Mrs. Jerry CANATSEY of Brentwood, Mo.; and a son, John Burr AGNEW Sr. of Eden.
