Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at Two O'clock. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call at STUHR'S WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Tuesday from Six until Eight O'clock.

Mary was born in Charleston, SC, April 16, 1916, the daughter of Christopher Wilson Mathewes and Gerhardine Reicke Mathewes.

She was a member of St. Peter and St. John's Episcopal Church.

Surviving are one sister, Gerhardine (Gerry) M. Jackson of Charleston, SC; many nieces and nephews; extended family of Mark W. Clark and family of Camden, SC. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Christopher W. Mathewes, Jr., Julius B. Mathewes, Paul H. Mathewes, John O. Mathewes, and Richard A. Mathewes, and four sisters, Agnes M. Hinnant, Gladys M. Bruder, Margaret M. Futch, and Ida M. Phipps.
