Catherine Isabel "Katie Belle" (Cole) Mason was my Great Aunt. Daughter of Henry James Cole and Sarah (Brown) Cole. She married Charles Henry Mason September 12, 1906 in Canada.
Catherine's mother died May 10, 1892 in Lapeer, Lapeer Co., Michigan; and was buried in Ontario, Canada with her family.
Apparently she stayed in Canada after her Mother's death. The intent was that her Father would return for her per the June 15, 1892 issue of The Lapeer County Clarion which has a sentence that reads: Henry Cole is preparing to go to Aylmer, Ontario, where his daughter, Katie, now is. He will leave soon as he can dispose of his team and other property. Not sure why he couldn't return, but she was raised in Canada by her Mother's Brother and Wife (Alex and Kate Brown).
