Emma Jane Dixon Swafford was born Feb 7, 1882 near Polo, Mo, a daughter of Jobe and Caroline Dixon, and departed this life at her home in Polo at noon Nov. 23, 1957. On Jan 7, 1903 she was united in marriage to Thomas Harmon Swafford who died in 1950. There were six children born to this union two of whom preceded her in death, Mary Caroline and Mrs. Nora Swafford Bales. She accepted Christ as her Savior at the Old Lisbonville Church and was baptized in Crooked River at the age of 7. She later joined the First Baptist Church in Polo in 1950. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Velma Hadley of Kansas City, Kansas., Mrs. Geneva Taylor of Plattsburg, Mo., two sons, John of Cowgill, Mo., and Woodrow of Polo, Mo; four grandsons, Dean and Dan Swafford of Polo, and Thomas David and John Robert Swafford of Polo two sister, Mrs. Steve Milligan of Polo and Mrs. Anna Greenawalt of Lathrop, Mo ; Two brothers, Tom and Sam Dixon of Polo, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and her entire world revolved around her family and her church. She was a devoted church member and never missed a meeting when she was at all able to go. She was a wonderful neighbor and was one of whom it can sincerely be said she truly lived the Golden Rule.

Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist Church in Polo Monday afternoon, Nov. 25, at 2:00 by the Rev. Don Stanley, Polo Baptist pastor and a friend of the family. Rites were largely attended and the many beautiful floral offerings attested the esteem in which she was held. Mrs. Louis Schildknecht and Joe Spicer rendered the songs " and "Goodnight and Goodmorning", accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Place at the piano. Pallbearers were: Lloyd Cooper, John Hunt, Ernest Michael, Everett Smith, Orvis Streeter and Woodrow Youngblood. Burial at Liberty, Mo
