Christopher E. Marquez, "Chris" 37, of Las Cruces, N.M., entered eternal rest on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008. He was born Nov. 2, 1970, in Socorro, N.M., to Manuel and Virginia Marquez. Chris graduated from Socorro High School and was currently employed with Maloff Distributing.
He is survived by his wife, Monica of the family home and two children, Christopher and Lauryn. Also surviving him are his parents, Manuel and Virginia of Socorro, N.M.; father-in-law, Richard Sainz and wife, Alma, of Deming, N.M.; mother-in-law, Anita Carreon and husband, Fernando, of Bayard, N.M. One brother Rick Marquez and his wife, Julie, of Socorro, N.M.; one sister, Rebecca Myrin and husband, Mike of Pleasanton, Texas; brother in laws, Fernando Carreon of Las Cruces, N.M., Jacob Carreon of El Paso, Texas, Joshua Carreon of Bayard, N.M. and Richie Sainz of Deming, N.M. sisters-in-law, Michelle Lucero and husband, Anthony of Las Cruces, N.M., and Leslie Sainz of El Paso, Texas, and Veronica Romero and husband, Abel of Mesa, Ariz., and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, at Getz Funeral Home. The funeral liturgy will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. The rite of committal and burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers will be Pat Sainz, Anthony Lucero, Ralph Lucero, Frank Sanchez, Richie Sainz, and Amador Diaz.
