Idaho State Journal dated January 30, 1995 reads as follows:
VERDA WAKEMAN
Soda Springs-Verda M. Andrus Wakeman, 83, of Soda Springs, passed away Saturday, January 28, 1995, at the Caribou Memorial Nursing Home.
She was born February 22, 1911, at Ucon, Idaho, the daughter of Newton and Julletta Barrett Andrus. She was reared and educated in Idaho Falls; she also had lived in Grays Lake and in Soda Springs since 1952.
She married Herman A. Wakeman October 6, 1934, in Blackfoot, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on May 6, 1966.
She was a member of the LDS First Ward, and had held many positions, also filling a stake mission. In her younger years she had worked as a telephone operator and postal clerk. She enjoyed making quilts and reading.
She is survived by her husband, of Soda Springs; one son and one daugher and their spouses, Brent and Caroline Wakeman, Stanfield, Oregon, Sandra and Bob Christopherson, Green River, Wyoming; also 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Ivan L. Andrus, Tacoma, Washington, and Lois Madsen, Murray, Utah. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 1, at noon in the Soda Springs LDS First and Fifth Ward building. Friends may call on Tuesday evening, Jan.31, at the Allen-Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the chapel from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Soda Springs Fairview Cemetery.
