A graduate of Earlham College in Richmond, she had a degree in fine arts. She was a bookkeeper in Indianapolis at East Side Auto Partgs for 20 years, then worked for Indy Piano Service for 20 years before retiring.
Miss Askren received several ribbons for her paintings at local art shows and at the Indiana State Fair. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are a sister, Marjorie (Jim) Windle, and a brother Calvin (Betty) Askren, of Lafayette, four nieces and nephews and several great - nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Fowler.
