DEATH CLAIMS AGED RESIDENT

HENRY AHRENS 95, SUCCUMBS AT HOME OF DAUGHTER RITES HELD MONDAY.
Death claimed one of Batesville s oldest residents last Friday in the passing of Henry Ahrens who died at the home of HIs Daughter Zena Ahrens at 206 Vine Street.
Mr Ahrens Enjoyed Fairly Good Health, He was only sick 2 days with the flu, was 95 years 8 MOnths and 11 days at the time of his death.
He was Born on Sept 20, 1848 at Hubbles Corner, The Son of Henry and Anna Maria Mollenkamp Ahrens.
He was united in Marriage to Anna Catherine Fruchtnicht on Jan 25, 1875 at Adams church, The couple made their home on a farm in the Lookout Vicinity where Mr Ahrens followed the persuits of farming untill he retired at the age of 70
after which he made his home with his children. His Helpmate Having passed away Jan 20, 1901
Mr Ahrens, was confirmed at Adams Church on March 20, 1864 and was a lifelong member of that congregation.

Surviving are two Daughters, Zena Ahrens, of this city and Mrs Fred Michel of R R 1 Sunman, and 2 Sons Chris of Sheffield Iowa, and Edward Ahrens of R 1 Batesville.
The Three oldest Children Died in Infancy. Also Surviving are Four grandchildren and one great Grandchild. Besides two Brothers William Ahrens Age 88, of Sunman and John Ahrens Age 91 of this City.
Funeral Services were held Monday at 1 pm at the Meyer Funeral Home and at 2pm at Adams Church with the Rev E. A Slottag officiating. Burial was in the Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery under the direction of WAlter B Meyers Undertaker.
