WILLIAM JACKSON HONEYMAN
William Jackson Honeyman was the fourth of eleven children born Isabella (Long) and David Honeyman. He was born on 10/30/1830 in Union County, Indiana.

William's mother Isabella died in Union County, Indiana, on 9/11/1855. She is buried in Silver Creek Cemetery. After his mother's death, William's father David married Isabella's sister, Jane (Long) Malaby Noble. This was a third marriage for both of them.

John Long, b.1825 – d.1875; Mary Ann, b.1826 – d.1891; Sarah Jane, b.1828 – d.1884; Elizabeth, b.1832 – d.1907; Rebecca Emma, b.1834 – d.1916; James Oliver, b.1837 – d.1842; Ellen M., b.1839 – d.1863; George Washington, b.1841 – d.1915; David, b.1843; Louisa C, b.1844 – d. 1930. William also had one half sister by his father and step mother Jane's marriage. Her name was Isabella, b. 11/7/1859 & d. 6/22/1877 and one half brother, Lewis A, b. 1862.

FIRST MARRIAGE
William first married Martha Jane Swallow, daughter of Elizabeth and George Swallow. They were married Oct 24, 1854 in Union County, Indiana. To this union were born four sons; Roland, b. abt 1855; Marcellus, b. abt 1858; George, b. abt 1861 and John N, b. 1863, d. 1864. All were born in Indiana. Martha died August 12, 1864 and is buried in Union County, Indiana and so is youngest son John.

MOVE TO ILLINOIS
When other Indiana families began emigrating to Illinois in the fall of 1864, David and Jane Honeyman and family followed them. Amoung the followers were William Jackson Honeyman, age 34, and his three living children: Rolandus W. age 9, Marcellus Ethelbert age 7, and George Martine Douglas age 4. Also with this family was Miss Frances America Swallow, who was the cousin of William's deceased wife, Martha. The families who came on the Honeyman wagon train settled in New Boston Township, probably because the area was already well populated.

WILLIAM'S SECOND MARRIAGE
William Jackson Honeyman married Frances America Swallow, daughter of Joshua Swallow on June 6, 1866 in Mercer County, Illinois. Six of William and Frances Honeyman's children were born in Mercer County, Illinois: Charles Ellsworth, b. abt 1866; Omer Stanfield, b. abt 1869; Rhoda Vashti, b. abt 1871; Mary Edna, b. abt 1873; William Bruce, b. abt 1875; Ida Belle, b. abt 1878.

MOVE TO KANSAS
Sometime in the 1870's several Mercer County families went to Harvey County, Kansas, many with the "Prouty Wagon Train" in 1871. By the 1880 census William & Frances and family were among the Mercer County families that ended up in Harvey County, Kansas. Their last two children were born in Kansas: Lillian Frances, b. 1881; Osa Evelyn, b. 1883. William and Frances remained in Kansas for the rest of their lives.

Records state that William died in New Boston, Illinois but he is buried in Kansas with his second wife.
