HAYES - Died, Saturday, Feb. 7, 1903, at the home of his son, Eli Hayes, of Chicago, of Bright's disease, Harrison J. Hayes, aged 64 years.
The remains were brought to this city Monday and taken to the residence of his nephew, John W. McCarty, 1824 South Eighth street. The funeral was held at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at Plymouth Congregational church. Rev. O. C. Clark officiating. Interment was made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
The decedent was born Sept. 8, 1838, at Chillicothe, Oh., and lived there until 1888, at which date he moved to Colorado. In 1890 he moved to Springfield, where he had since lived. He married Sarah Jane Rinehart of Waverly, in 1859. His wife died in October, 1900.
He is survived by two sons, Eli Hayes of Chicago and Allen Hayes of this city; five daughters, Mrs. Charles Hemmer of Peoria, Mrs. Henry Jesberg and Mrs. William Coffey of Chicago, Mrs. Elias Cooper of Springfield and Mrs. Joseph Garbarino of Denver Col.; and one brother, James Hayes, of Texas.
The services at the church were largely attended. The pallbearers were George Bentley, William West, C. W. Dawes, L. Follis, Frederick Hoeisel and J. Martin.
