Edward Lorenzo Dow (L.D.) Covey was born 22 October 1850 in Hardin County, Tennessee, USA. He was 7th of the eight children born to Archibald Downing Covey (1811-1885) and Margaret Ann Matthews Covey (1821-?). Siblings: Sarah H. [Covey] Worley (1837-), William Russell Covey (1838-1914), Martha Ann [Covey] Worley (1840-1885), Mary Jane Sophronia [Covey] Martin (1843-?), Emily Lucretia [Covey] Whitson (1844-1886), Leven John Wesley Covey (1848-1916) and James Ememsire Covey (1856-?). At the age of 29 years, he was married to Nannie Evergreen Hoyle (1859-1940) on 22 October 1879 in Franklin County, Arkansas. They became the parents of two daughters; Janette Covey (1880-1881) and Ollie M. [Covey] Frasier (1882-1978). L.D. made his living as a farmer and the United States Census for 1800 shows L.D. and Nannie living in Wittich, Franklin, Arkansas, and in 1900 they were in Hurricane Township, Franklin, Arkansas. L.D. passed away at the age of 58 years on 22 March 1909 in Franklin County, Arkansas and was laid to rest in the Lowe's Creek Cemetery in Peter Pender, Franklin, Arkansas.
