OBITUARY: Given Burial Tuesday Big Sandy Correspondent Greenberry Greer, age 94 died early Monday morning at the home of his son, P.S. Greer at Big Sandy. Mr Greer was a confederate veteran, and had served Benton County as County Court Clerk three successive terms. He was married three times and was a local minister of the M.E. Church, South. Burial was at Cowell's Chapel Tuesday with funeral service in charge of Rev. H.F. Clayton, Big Sand, Rev. L.R. Watson and J.N. Wilford, Camden.

MILITARY SERVICE:
Corporal and then Lieutenant. Enlisted Oct. 8, 1861. Captured April 8, 1862 Island #10 POW at Camp Randall, Madison, Wisconsin. Sent to Camp Douglas, IL. April 20, 1862. Exchanged Aug. 1862. Promoted from Corp. to Lt. Sept. 25, 1862. Captured at Macon, GA April 20, 1865. In Ocmulgee Hosp. Macon, GA for leg injury admitted April 11, 1865 returned to duty April 29, 1865.
