Guy Burton Bond was the grandson of 1850's Oregon Territory pioneers Solomon Bond and Huldah (Hayes) Bond of Lane County. Guy Bond was also the grandson of Lane County pioneers Adolphus Dollie Burton & Martha Ann (Goodpasture) Burton. They were farmers and ranchers near Springfield and A.D. Burton served in the Oregon Territorial legistlature.

His great-grandparents, John Bond and Sarah (Chastain) Bond settled in Linn County at that same time. Guy Bond also was the great-grandson of Eugene settlers Alexander Goodpasture & Elizabeth (Moss) Goodpasture Gillespie. His step-great-grandather was Rev. Jacob Gillespie, who also served in the Oregon Territorial legistlature. Rev. Gillespie founded the Cumberland (now Central) Presbyterian Church in Eugene and founded Eugene's Columbia College, the precursor of the University of Oregon.

Guy Burton Bond was the middle son of three of Melvin Clarence Bond and Fannie (Burton) Bond of Coburg, Oregon. They are buried in the Coburg IOOF Cemetery.

When Guy Bond was eleven years old, his older brother Lawrence Melvin Bond was shot and killed by another boy on November 28, 1908. The two 14-year olds were hunting near Coburg when the accident occurred. The youngest son in the family, Merle Clarence Bond, was only twenty days old when his oldest brother died. Lawrence Bond is also buried in the Coburg IOOF Cemetery.

Guy Burton Bond married Maydream Rosina McLean in Marshfield, Coos County, Oregon on 10 Jun 1919. They had no children and were later divorced. Guy Bond never remarried. [Maydream (McLean) Bond was remarried to Leon A. Bernier, who later murdered her. Bernier shot his wife and her younger sister, Marie (McLean) Watkins, to death on December 23, 1955 in Coos County. The two women are buried in Sunset Memorial Park in Coos Bay, Oregon.]

Guy Bond served in World War I. His hometown was Marshfield (now known as Coos Bay) but he died from advanced tuberculosis one day after being admitted to the Veteran's Administration facility in Portland. His only survivor was his younger brother, Merle.
