Mrs. Mary Ault Spickler, eighty-two, widow of Hiram Spickler, 248 Marietta st., Mount Joy, died at 6:45p.m. yesterday at her home just as the ambulance of the Lancaster General hospital arrived to convey her to the hospital. She was stricken ill four days ago. Mrs. Spickler was born in East Petersburg a daughter of the late William and Caroline Ault and had resided in Mount Joy for the past seventy-five years. She was a member of the Mount Joy Church of God for fifty years and taught a Sunday School class for forty years. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, No. 185, of Mount Joy. She was a daughter of a veteran of the Mexican war; widow of a Civil War veteran; sister of Abram Ault, White Oak, a Spanish American War veteran, Oliver A. Spickler, who resides at home. Besides the brother and son, she is survived by another son, Martin A., at home and a sister, Fannie, wife of Harry C. Miller, Manheim. (Lancaster New Era - Oct 12, 1940)
