Mr. Bailey was the son of John and Catherine Vanderbilt Bailey and had lived all his life in the vicinity where he was born. He was employed by Cornelius Post as a butcher for many years and when George Henn bought this business. Mr. Bailey continued to serve the same old customers behind the meat block. He was a retired member of Lincoln Hose Company, a member of the Exempt Firemen's Relief Association and the American Mechanics.
He was a member of Calvary M.E. Church for many years a member of the Men's Bible Class of the Sunday school. His wife, a son, Ernest G. Bailey, present fire chief, and a brother, Hendrick Bailey survive.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the house, conducted by the Rev. F.B. Whitaker pastor of Calvary M.E. Church.
Interment was in Green Grove Cemetery.
