Constance Baxley Fine, 81, of Summerville, the widow of Joseph E. Fine, Sr., died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at a local hospital. Born January 1, 1927 in Berkeley County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clifford A. Baxley and Picola Phillips Baxley.
Constance was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She is survived by her eight children: Joseph E. Fine, Jr. of North Charleston; John V. Fine of Summerville; Pauline Povero (Ronald) of Summerville; Theresa C. Fine of St. Stephen; Ann Goss (Mickey) of Mt. Pleasant; Patrick L. Fine (Jana) of James Island; Helen Fine of St. Stephen and Cynthia M. McCaslin (Robert) of Hanahan; a sister: Nolie Grooms of North Charleston; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8PM with the Rosary being recited at 7PM on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at McAlister-Smith West Ashley Chapel, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM on Friday, July 25th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1695 Wallenberg Blvd., Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Hwy 61, Charleston.
