John Caldwell and wife Mary J Davis Caldwell had five children. Their first child was William C Caldwell, born March 15, 1835. He married Jan. 14, 1864, to Sarah C. He was twice married, his last wife having died in November, 1897. His father died in 1863; his mother in 1895. Member of Loami and Springfield Masons. He was highly educated, having graduated at Shurtleff college at Upper Alton. He resided on a farm near Loami for a number of years but since the death of his wife he resided in the village of Loami.
