Married Agnes Cross, 14 Oct 1842, Belfast, Antrim, Ireland
History - William Douglass was born in Ballybentragh, Templepatrick, County Antrim, Ireland to Samuel and Agnes Gamble Douglass of Scottish-Irish descent.
He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints March 27, 1842. He was the only member of his family to join the church. He married Agnes McCowan Cross October 14, 1842. They emigrated from Scotland to Nauvoo in 1844, leaving Liverpool September 19 of that year. He was ordained a Seventy October 27, 1845 in the Nauvoo Temple. He left Nauvoo on the council of Orson Hyde and went to St. Louis.
He was told that if he would be obedient to the Lord; also that if he would give up his treasures of coin, he would never want for worldly good, nor his children, nor would his children's children. He later wrote in his diary that the promises given him in his blessing had been fulfilled literally.
He and Agnes McCowan Cross had these children: Margaret Sarah, Agnes, William John, Samuel, Matilda, Eliza Roxey, Joseph and Elizabeth. They came to Utah as pioneers in Brigham Young's 1848 Company with his wife, Agness, daughter Margaret Sarah Douglass (age 4) and infant son, William John Douglass
