Mrs. Lena Lewis, 84, Albany, Succumbs
Mrs. Lena Lewis, 84, pioneer resident of the Albany and Attica vicinity, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the St. Clare hospital, Monroe.
The daughter of Andrew and Christian Jacobson Albertson, she was born Oct. 31, 1875. She was graduated from the Albany high school in 1983 and taught school for several years. Following her marriage to Edwin Lewis on July 19, 1896, they farmed hear Albany for several years before moving to their present farm where she had resided for the past 50 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1946.
Mr. Lewis died Jan. 8, 1957. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Gilbert Albertson, and a granddaughter, Gladys Schultz Booth, who passed away May 15 of last year.
Mrs. Lewis was a confirmed member of the Norwegian Lutheran church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Norwegian church with the Rev. A. O. Skesbsrud, Orfordville, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Wm. Schultz, Route 1, Albany, and four sons, Winfred, Ray and Orville, Belleville, and Vaughn, Evansville; one brother, Otis Albertson, Evansville; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Maynard Kittleson, Wm. Krueger, Paul Thoman, Harold Albertson, Wm. Gill, and Emil Luchsinger.
