Funeral services for Mr. S. A. McDaniel, 80, of Carthage were held ate 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 1995 at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage. The Rev. Jerry Burnaman and Rev. Bruce Will officiated. Interment followed in Restland Cemetery in Panola County. Mr. McDaniel died Thursday, Sept. 21, at Panola General Hospital.

Born on Feb. 17, 1915 in Tenaha, he was the son of John Willard and Lonnie E. Foster McDaniel. Mr. McDaniel attended school in Tenaha and in the Old Tennessee Community. He was a service contractor and member of the Men's Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Carthage.

Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille (Bolton) McDaniel of Carthage; one son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Brenda McDaniel of Carthage; two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Mack LaGrone of Hallsville, and Joyce and Jimmie Chamless of Henderson; one sister, Miss Hazel McDaniel of Tenaha; nine grandchildren, Teel McDaniel Hooper, Tiffani McDaniel May, Lori LaGrone, Chad LaGrone, Shari Peru, John McDaniel, James R. Chambless, David Richards, and Donna Evanoff.

Serving as pallbearers were Jackie Hessier, Billy Heim, Rex Taylor, Pete Williams, Gary Brister, Linnon McDaniel, Dean Jones, and Barry Hoffpauir.

The Men's Sunday School of Carthage First Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.
