SHARON VIRGINIA SHENFIELD
La Grande
1937 - 2003
Sharon V. Shenfield, 65, of La Grande died Sept. 2 at Grande Ronde Hospital of natural causes. Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 Fourth St., and for an hour before the funeral at the LDS Church on S. McAlister Road in Island City. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Mrs. Shenfield was born Oct. 20, 1937, to Elvin L. and Virginia E. Davenport Carman in La Grande. She lived in Boise, Wendell and Pocatello, Idaho, before she graduated from La Grande High School in 1955. She married Richard "Dick" Shenfield Jr. on June 5, 1955, in La Grande. She worked as a secretary for a local trucking company through several ownership changes including Sites Silverwheel Freight, Consolidated Freight Lines and finally Viking Trucking. She retired in 1997. She was a member of the Fourth Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she worked with the primary group, the relief society and the young women's group. She was also a member of the Rusty Wheels Car Club and the Teamsters Union. She enjoyed ceramics, crochet, crafts and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of La Grande, children and their spouses, Richard "Rick" and Karalee Shenfield of Post Falls, Idaho, and Randy and Jana Shenfield of La Grande; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Paul Carman of Union, Ron Carman of Montana, Gary Carman of Bend, Don Carman of Hermiston; five sisters, Beverly Berkland of McMinnville, Shirley Kleng of La Grande, Connie Heller of Gooding, Idaho, Joyce Smith of Provo, Utah, and Kathy Gilgert of Rosamond, Calif. Two brothers died earlier.
