Thelvin Whitt, 85, of Lockport, IL, died Sunday, January 20, 2000, at his home after a long illness.
Family received friends at the Goodale Memorial Chapel in Illinois Tuesday. Family will receive friends at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home in Ardmore, AL Thursday, February 3, at 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tony Boyles officiating. Burial will be in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore.
A native of Limestone County, AL, Mr. Whitt lived in Lockport for 33 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ephraim and Millie Mae (Garrett) Whitt; a brother, Buddy Whitt,; two sisters, Mercedes Hobbs and Amilla Forbes. He was employed at Dellwood Tire as a recapper, retired in 1979, after serving them for 13 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Lenox.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Annie (McNeese) Whitt; two daughters, Martha (Mrs. Vince) Hannah and Joyce (Mrs. Verlin) Manche; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bandy (Mrs. Thomas) Ferguson and Faye Miller; one brother, William (Doris) Whitt; loving caregiver, Olga Ruda; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist church of New Lenox or Joliet Area Community Hospice.
