Sept 18, 1931 - Carroll Times - J. S. Birt of Auburn died in his home yesterday morning at the age of 75. He had been ill with Bright's disease and for the last nine days had been in a serious condition. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Presbyterian church and will be conducted by the Rev. Mr. J Hallock. Burial will be in the Auburn cemetery.
Mr. Birt is survived by his widow and five children: Mrs. Will Hook and Mrs. Will Martin, both of Auburn; Clifford Birt of Lake City; Walter Birt of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Redmond of Los Angeles, Calif., who will arrive this evening.
