Doris L. Wright completed her life of work and love of others February 5, 2007. Born in Bunkerville, Nevada December 27, 1924, the daughter of LeVinz C. Tanner and Phyllis Daich Holmes. Her mother died at an early age and Doris was adopted by Dr. John R. Lewis and Phyllis Clark. Later he married Hazel West Lewis.
At BYU Doris met and married Fred T. Wright. Following WWII they lived in the East where Fred worked for the airlines. In 1951 they returned to Utah, settling in American Fork, where their family of seven, plus other assisted students, were raised.
Doris attained a master's degree and taught clothing & textiles at BYU. Always active in the LDS church, she served as Relief Society President and a Temple Worker. She and her husband served as missionaries in the Philippines and then in the church employment program in Utah County.
She is survived by her husband Fred, and children: Cathy (Steve) Cochran; Connie Staley; Lewis (Lynne); Wayne (Marianne); Elizabeth; Margaret Vail (Matt) Cooper; Ruth (Jared) Kissell; and a step-sister Elaine Jorgenson. Doris and Fred were married 63 years and have 28 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb 10th at 1 pm in the American Fork 26th Ward Chapel, 975 N60E. Viewings will be at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E 100 N, American Fork, Friday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour before the funeral. Interment, American Fork Cemetery.
