Iva was the daughter of William and Amanda Hudson Brasel. Iva was one of seven children born to this couple. Iva was married to Argie Graham Cecil on August 27, 1917 in Newton County, Arkansas. She was an active lifetime member of First Baptist Church. She was a president of the Business and Professional Women's Club, a member of the American Legion Auxilliary, the Town and Country Garden Club, the Royal Neighbors and Eastern Star. She was a great cook and cooked for the whole family on weekends. She and her husband had three daughter, Doris, and Carolyn, and Cathryn, who were twins.
