Third Generation.
III. James Pendleton((3)) (Henry((2)), Philip((1))), was the oldest son of Henry and Mary (Taylor) Pendleton, b. about 1701-2; d. 1761. He lived in Culpeper County, Va., and was a very active member of St. Mark's Parish, being often warden and lay reader. Married (1727) Mrs. Mary Lyall, a widow, of Lancaster County, Va.
Issue:
I. James Pendleton((4)). Married Catherine Bowie, daughter of Gov. Bowie, of Maryland.
II. Henry Pendleton((4)). Married Ann Thomas.
III. Philip Pendleton((4)). Married Martha Aubrey
IV. Annie Pendleton((4)). Married - James Gibson Taylor

The parish register says that in 1746 James Pendleton was a Lay Reader at the chapel in the Little Fork; in 1751 he was chosen Vestryman, and he took the Oath of Alegiance, subscribed to the doctrine and discipline of the Church of England; he was continued as Lay Reader in 1757 and on 8the April, 1763, a Vestryman was chosen in the room of James Pendleton, deseased
