Born at Oaks Corners in the town of Phelps, November 9, 1843.

He enlisted twice, first in July, 1862, in Co. H, 126th N. Y. S. Vols., served until 1863, when he re-enlisted as a Veteran in Co. H, 111th N. Y. S. Vols.

Taken prisoner at Harper's Ferry and paroled. Wounded in left arm at the BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG; hospitalized in Newark Hospital until November. At the Battle of the WILDERNESS, he was wounded in his left leg.

Honorably discharged October 1865.

Married Lucina Amellia McLOUTH on November 25, 1868.
