Bonnie Anna Goracke, 94, of LaSalle, CO, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008.
She was born February 25, 1914 in Zillah, WA to Frank Arthur and Effie Gertrude (Bugbee) Babcock. She married Warren William Goracke on November 30, 1938 in Harlan County, Nebraska. He passed away September 5, 2001. When she was three years old, the family moved to a farm in Phillips County, KS. She and her husband farmed in North Central Kansas for about 38 years. They retired to Republican City, NE for 18 years before moving to their son's home in LaSalle, Co in 1999. Mrs. Goracke took her State Normal Training at Fort Hays State College in Hays, KS and taught at two rural country schools in Phillips County.
She was a member of Englewood Wesleyan Church in rural Phillips County and later moved her membership to Naponee Wesleyan Church in Naponee, NE. She was also involved in the women's ministry of the Wesleyan Church. She loved to paint with French oils, reading, hand sewing and quilting. She loved to create things with her hands. Her family was dear to her, and she loved them greatly. She is survived by her son, Oren Goracke and wife, Eilen, of LaSalle, Lyle Goracke and wife, Beth, of Conner, MT, Lowell Goracke and wife, Cheryl, of Oklahoma, City, OK and Jimmy Goracke and wife, Pam, of Bucklin, KS; brothers, Dean Babcock of
Republican City, NE and Billy Babcock and wife, Margaret, of Brush; sister, Molly Goracke Leland of Loveland; 19 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and one sister. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m, Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Allnutt Funeral Service/Macy Chapel. Interment will be at Alma Cemetery, Alma, NE. Memorials may be made to the Naponee Wesleyan Church or charity of choice in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th Street Greeley, CO 80631.
