Henry Vandiver's parents are John Vandiver (34822591) and Angeline (Graham) Vandiver (34822590). I would be happy to provide documentation - John and Angeline were in Schuyler County, Illinois, in the 1840 census and the 1850 census; in 1850 their son Henry was 6 years old. The family are still there in 1860. Brothers Nelson, John and Henry Vandiver all enlisted in Schuyler County and all served in the 78th Illinois Infantry. I also found Henry's military hospital and cemetery records on Ancestry.com. These records show that Henry Vandiver of Schuyler County, Illinois, a Private in the 78th Illinois Infantry, died 19 Sept 1864 and is buried in Section G, Marietta National Cemetery.
The records show he died in a field hospital near Atlanta, the official cause of death being "gun shot wound fracture of head."
I'm a descendant of Henry's brother, Nelson Vandiver.
Many thanks,
Amy Martin
