Thursday June 28, 1984

Owen T. Jones was born November 6, 1895,
at Irving, Kansas, son of William and Lorene
(Cooper) Jones. He was one of seven children
five boys and two girls. He died at the
Dechairo Hospital June 3, 1984 in Westmore-
land, Kansas, after an extended illness.

Owen was married to Mina Agnes Fairchild,
March 29, 1917, at Frankfort, Kansas. Mina
preceded him in death on February 15, 1980.
They lived in Frankfort, Wheaton and
Westmoreland, Kansas areas all of their
married life. He was a farmer for many years
and worked for the Pottawatomie County
Shop until retirement.

To this union four children were born;
Lorena Mary, born January 31, 1918, died
January 31, 1918; Marjorie Glendene, born
February 6, 1920, died June 30, 1935;
Thurman Duane, born February 16, 1924,
Died August 4, 1960 and Betty Ann, born
July 31, 1925, died December 12, 1927.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law,
Lucille Jones Dechairo; one grandson
Duane Jones Wamego, Kansas and six
great-grandchildren, Justin, Laura, Jeff,
and Jared Jones, Wamego, Kansas;
Alan and Amy Michels, Wamego; also
two brothers, Ira (Pat) Jones of Houston,
Texas and Dave Jones, Shawnee Mission,
Kansas and one sister, Edith Harz of Clay
Center, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by one sister
Elizabeth Emerson, Feb 8, 1931, and two
brothers, Henry Jones February 26, 1965
and Jake Jones October 7, 1979.

Owen had been in the nursing home since
November 1983.

He was a member of the United Methodist
Church of Westmoreland,Kansas and
American Legion Post 186, WW I and
received his fifty year pin in November
1969.

Services were held Thursday, June 7, 1984
at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church
at Westmoreland with burial at Barrett
Cemetery southwest of Frankfort, Kansas.
