Uteva, age 87, was the daughter of Lorenz G. and Miriam (Lewis) Pfeffer. She graduated from Riley (KS) Rural High School. She married Felex Powers on October 5, 1941. She worked for the Manhattan Mercury as area editor, contributing writer, and Senior Page Editor. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her children, Paul Powers and Liz Wilkerson, and her sister, Delora Dollinga. She is survived by her children, John Powers and Sharon Powers, her siblings, Lewis Pfeffer, Ivan Pfeffer, Elaine Bair, and Sarah Simmons, and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Yorgenson-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Zeandale.
