William J. H. "Bill" Stoner

William J.H. "Bill" Stoner, the son of John Harold and Agnes M. (Hall) Stoner, was born January 31, 1930 in Watson, Missouri. He attended High Creek Country School, and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1947. Bill then attended college and played football at Wentworth Military Academy, in Lexington, Missouri, graduating in 1949. Due to his father's ill health, Bill moved back to the Rock Port area to farm.

On November 12, 1950, Bill was united in marriage to Doris Jean Stotts at the Chamberlain Wedding Chapel in Rock Port. They made their home on the Stoner family farm north of Rock Port, and became the parents of two children, Karen and Kevin. They lived on the farm until 2007 when they moved to Lincoln to be closer to family. Bill passed away September 16, 2008 at Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Bill was a member of the High Creek Baptist Church, where he served as Treasurer and taught Sunday School until it's closing. Bill then moved his membership to the Rock Port Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacons, Moderator, Sunday School teacher, on numerous committees, and was currently serving as a Deacon. He was a past president and served as a member on the High Creek Cemetery Board. In his youth, Bill was active in 4-H, serving also as a 4-H leader when his children participated. He was a Rainbow Girls Dad, a past member of the Rock Port Masonic Lodge, and a past member of the Rock Port School Board, where he served as president for several years. He also established the first American Family Insurance Agency in Rock Port. Bill loved the farm, which has been in the family since 1856 and has been enjoyed by seven generations of Stoners.
