James T. Buckner is first noted in the 1880 census of Talbot County, Georgia as being 5 years old and living with his parents John J. and Tabitha Buckner, ages 25 and 26, along with his young sibling, Sarah who was just two. They were all living with, and in the farm home, of James' grandparents, Tapley and Sarah Elizabeth Buckner.
James' father passed away in September of 1880 and is laid to rest near him in the cemetery.
1900 finds James and his sister Lizzie and another younger sibling, John, all living with their widowed mother Tabitha. They still farmed and James and John worked the farm for their mother.
In 1902, on December 18, James married Leamon Smith. Together the couple raised four children.
Per his WWI registration card dated September 1918, James was born James Tiflin Buckner in Junction City, GA. This name however is in question since his gravestone reads James Tapley Buckner. The name Tapley is also verified by his granddaughter.
James died in 1936, his wife Leamon in 1964. Both are laid to rest here in the cemetery.
