McCOOLE - Mary Dorothy "Dot" Ambrose, 66, of 25011 Crooks Ave., SW, McCoole, died at her residence Tuesday, May 18, 2004, of cancer after eight months of illness. Born on Oct. 13, 1937, at Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late Robert Edward and Laverne (Rowan) Kirkwood. Mrs. Ambrose was homemaker and a part-time employee of Keyser Decorating. She was a 1955 graduate of Valley High School, Lonaconing. She was an avid bowler, a Bunko player and Book Club member. Surviving are her husband of forty-six years, William L. "Bill" Ambrose; her daughter, Debra L. Ambrose of Swanton; two brothers, Robert E. "Teddy" Kirkwood of LaVale Summit and John Kirkwood of Lonaconing; two sisters, Rita Mayles of Piedmont, W.Va., and Betty Ann Often of Belair; and two grandchildren, Brenton A Carnell and Matthew A. Carnell. Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday, May 20, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 21, 2004, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Manning Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
