The death of Howard A. Murphy, a World War veteran in the famous 35th division, occurred at the Veterans' Hospital in Legion, Tex., Sunday, March 31st. He was 43 years old and had been ill for the past year, resulting from being gassed while in service. Mrs. Murphy is the former Mary Yeager of Green, and they had lived on a farm near Fredonia in recent years.

Surviving Mr. Murphy are his widow and one son; also two sisters, Mrs. Herman Lippert and Mrs. Joseph Yeager of Green; and his father, W.J. Murphy of Concordia.
The funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at the Peterson-Neill Funeral Home in Clay Center, with Rev. James Elliott in charge, and burial will be made in the Appleton Cemetery. The American Legion will conduct the graveside services.
