SMITHFIELD, UTAH: Donald Rulon Rasmussen, 83, surrounded by loved ones died quietly, Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at his home in Smithfield incident to age.

Don was born on November 22, 1924 to Mary Ann Norton and Rulon Howell Rasmussen in Lapoint, Utah. He was the oldest of 12 brothers and sisters. They worked and homesteaded the family farm while learning the value of love and hard work. Don and Betty passed these values on to their own family.

Don lived through the great depression and served his country in the armed forces during WWII as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne.

He married Betty Adeline Christensen of Whiterocks, Utah on August 13, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He leaves behind numerous relatives and friends who will miss him dearly: his wife Betty; three daughters; two sons; 25 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren, surviving siblings are five brothers and five sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sarah Delora (Dola) and a daughter, Janet Dee and a brother-in-law, Glen Bridges.

A special note of gratitude and thanks to Hospice for Utah, especially to Tammy and Dana for their loving care of our husband, dad and grandpa.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 26, 2008 in the Smithfield 10th Ward Chapel, 481 South 250 East. A viewing was held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, and at the church prior to services on Friday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
