Bryce Smart Reece 2nd Gr Uncle was born in October 1848 in Missouri to Henry and Elizabeth Wood Reece. He married Amanda Caroline (Mandy) Baker in 1869. They had 11 children: John H, Arter, James Edward MD, George W, Sarah E Reece Damph, Franklin, Pinkney Mabrey, Susan A Reece Duncan, Benjamin R, Ida M Reece Hilton and Lillian R Reece Ledbetter.

The Reeces, Woods, Treat and some other families moved from around Dalton, Georgia to Indiana, then Missouri and finally in the 1840’s to the Big Flat Area. Samuel lived with his parents near Round Mountain about 4 miles south of Big Flat. In 1860 Bryce is attending school and living with his parents and siblings near Big Flat, Arkansas.
