James died at the age of 89 Thursday, Sept.8,2005 surrounded by his loving family at his home in EJ.
Jim was born on August 4,1916 in EJ the son of Perry Samuel and Goldie(Bolser) Bennett. He grew up in EJ. On Sept. 18, 1937 he married Fern Virginia Gee. His wife of 67 years preceded him in death on July 10, 2005.
He had served in the United States Army during the World War II. Jim had worked for the EJ Canning Factory and later at the EJ Iron Works, where he retired in 1978 after 23 years of service. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post #227 Hosler-Rebec-Sweet Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7580 both in EJ. He also attended the Lighthouse Missionary Church in EJ. Jim enjoyed working at the local bingo parlor for many years and was and avid bowler and gardener.
Jim is survived by six children: Janet Olson, Fay(Harold) Barraw, Perry(Kaaren) Bennett, Nancy (Jim) LaBeau , Sally (Ed)Kotalik and Linda (Frank) Ballentine all of East Jordan; fifteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, two great-great granchildren, one brother Lawrence (Bernice) Bennett of East Jordan as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three granchildren Linda Sue, Leeann Francis, and Tara Sue and one son-in-law, Harold Olson, his parents and two brothers Glen and Percy Bennett.
