Francis Ole Hysel, age 87 of La Farge, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Westby. He was born November 2, 1920 in Bell Center, the son of Henry and Ida (Olson) Hysel.

On October 12, 1951, Francis was united in marriage with Margaret Fosdal in Viroqua, and they lived most of their married life in La Farge. Francis farmed the land most of his life, and eventually retired from the La Farge Cheese Factory. He was very proud of the fact that he had only missed one day of work in 21 years. He enjoyed watching the Brewers and the Cubs and listening to Big John music.

Survivors include: Twin sons: Hank and Frank Hysel of La Farge, Two daughters: Mary Rose of La Farge, Wanda (Robert) Rush of La Farge, Four grandchildren: David Blum of Richland Center, Aaron Rush of La Farge, Trisha (William) Johnson of La Farge, Malinda Hysel of Mauston, Six great grandchildren: John Rush of Viroqua, Teresa Couey of La Farge, Jewels Johnson of La Farge, Cody Johnson of La Farge, Owen Blum of Richland Center, Zachary Blum, His brother in law: Lawrence Wallace of La Crosse, Sisters in law: Amelia Howenschel of La Crosse, Thea (La Vern) Lawrence of Richland Center, and Elvira Hughes of Viola, as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Arlene Housner, Betty Lawrence and Mary Ann as an infant; and his wife Margaret in 1996.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the La Farge Free Methodist Church. Pastor Mark Phillips and Pastor Bonita Dorscheid co-officiated. Burial was held at the Bear Creek Cemetery in La Farge.

Friends may call at the La Farge Free Methodist Church on Saturday, August 9, 2008 from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM.
