Clara our friend, our dear mother, our grandmother, our great grandmother, dear wife, only beloved daughter and fun-loving cousin left her earthly loved ones to be with her Lord and Savior at the sweet age of 59 and 5 hours. Clara Jean Bagley Walker began her life on June 19, 1947 in the arms of her mother in Henderson, Texas. Our Gracious Lord called Clara Home by His Blessings, as she was born she was allowed to die; in the arms of her mother. Her time of passing, June 20, 2006, Clara died early Tuesday morning at her home under the pines she loved and in the peace and in the grace of her children and husband. If you have ever known or loved one of those rare people who could fill up the room, beam a smile that warmed your heart and could make you laugh when there seemed nothing to be happy about: then you have known Clara. Clara did not "battle" cancer. Rather the gracious optimistic lady that she had lived; she accepted her destiny. Rather than feel sorrow she steeled herself and her family with determination and hope living what days were left to her around her son and daughter, her mother, her step-father, her many friends, co-workers and her dear husband, Dewey Walker. When God made Angels, He made Dewey for no one could have loved and nursed a woman with more love, dedication and nobility.

Clara traveled to Heaven to the arms of angels gone before her: her dear and only child, Wendy; her many aunts and uncles; her namesake, Clara, her grandmother; her father, Waymon Bagley and her dear friends. They now have what we do not have, Clara. They are blessed with her smile and the sass of that hand on her hip. Clara no longer faces pain. Clara was born, raised, lived, and died here in her beautiful East Texas: her home set in the heart of pines. She married Dewey Walker 30 years ago that number validating their vows and loyalty to one another. After the tragic loss of their daughter, Wendy, Clara and Dewey together, they pledged to adopt and to raise Brittney and Cody. At the mere mention of their names Clara's face would glow and fill with motherly honor and devotion. She would come to call Valerie her child, her baby and they would all call her "Nana". If you wanted to spend time with Clara be prepared to build a fire, yep, didn't matter; 30 degrees or 100 degrees. And, be prepared to be out-fished, out-bowled, out-skated or out- danced. If you forgot to bring the Dr. Pepper then, well if you knew Clara, you know. Back in the 1950s Clara charmed everyone who came in sight. She lived through Hurricane Carla singing "Hit the Road and Don't Come Back". By the 1960s Clara skated to Elvis, Conway, and Tanya. She brought out the gaiety, the love and the soul of a person without even knowing what she was doing. She was her "true self": what you saw is what she was. If she called you friend, then friend you were.

She is survived by her husband, Dewey; her wonderful mother, Tootsie LaGrone; her step-father, Harry LaGrone, her children, Britney, Cody, Johnny Keith, Terry Walker Hunter and her special child, Valerie Walker Ramsey whom she called "her baby". She lived with God's love through her Blessings of 7 grandchildren and 7 great grand children.

Clara was like an old hen when things came to her children: she was petite but she was mighty. We who believe in Angels rest in the comfort and serenity knowing that Clara is sipping a Dr. Pepper, fishing for Perch, hovering over the "Yellow Dog Camp" blessing each one of us with her smile. As she said the last time we spoke with a two-fingered wave: "See ya on the other side."

Serving as pallbearers are James Walker, Cody Walker, Keith Walker, Mike Hunter, Marshall Hunter, Brad Mull, and Dakota Powell.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Longview Elks Lodge # 1128, PO Box 123, Longview, TX 75606 or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. Grieve not for if you "look up" she'll be dancing, laughing and blessing you. A memorial guestbook may be signed online at www.jimerson-lipsey.com.
