BODDEN
Vernon H. Bodden, Jr., 82, a native of Mobile and resident of Fairhope died March 27, 2004, after a brief illness. He graduated from Murphy High School and attended Auburn University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Corps of Engineers. He had been a resident of Fairhope since 1944. He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of the Fairhope Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where he served as Chairman of the Board and as a Trustee. He was also a member of the Fairhope Yacht Club and the American Legion. He retired as plant manager from GAF Corporation after 34 years of employment. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeane Lowell Bodden; one daughter, Karsen (Steve) Urbanek of Fairhope; and two sons, Vernon H. Bodden, III of Fairhope, and Dr. M. Kirby (Ginger) Bodden of Mobile; five grandchildren; a sister, Verna Bodden Phillips of Hueytown, Ala.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 3 at 11 a.m. in the Fairhope Christian Church, followed by a reception in the Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fairhope Christian Church Memorial Fund, 349 Fairwood Blvd., Fairhope, AL 36532.
