Sherman was my 3rd cousin 1 time removed through his father, Seth Burns Asay.
Sherman passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008 in Murray, Utah, after a long and valiant battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

He was born on Sunday, October 30, 1932 in Price, Utah to Seth Burns Asay and Lora Alverda Johnstun. Sherman was a stalwart member of the LDS Church, where he served in many positions, including branch president of the Katy, TX Spanish Branch. He served a mission to the Uruguay-Paraguay Mission (1952-1955). He got a BA degree from the University of Utah and a Master in Spanish Literature from Brigham Young University. He worked as a Language Specialist for the FBI and retired in 1998. He was very skillful and loved to fix cars, which he did many times for his children and other family members. He married Raquel Rivero-Varela in the Salt Lake Temple, February 18, 1983. He had a firm testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and his Atonement. He and Raquel served a mission to the Washington D.C. North Mission at the Spanish Branch of Washington D.C.

He was survived by his wife; his five children: Megan Asay Maughan (Shane), Ed Tokarz (Lori), Mia Cox (Robby), Pablo Tokarz (Heidrun) and Gabriel Tokarz (Sally); his six grandchildren: Jacob and Rhyan Healey, Abby and Ethan Maughan, Ashley Tokarz and Kaia Tokarz; his two brothers and six sisters, and many nephews, nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 12:00 PM at the South Cottonwood Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1250 East Murray Holladay Road (4800 South) in Holladay, Utah, where a viewing was held from 10:45-11:45 AM. Family and Friends also attended a viewing on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary located at 255 South 200 East in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sherman was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at the Herriman City Cemetery in Herriman, Utah.
