He was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Winneshiek County, near St. Lucas, son of Edward and Maggie Martin Kruse. On Jan. 28, 1947, he married Lucille Elizabeth Reicks at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas. She preceded him in death June 13, 1987.
Mr. Kruse farmed near Jackson Junction and in 1956 he bought a farm south of Cresco where he farmed until 1990 when he retired.
Survived by: seven sons, Edward (Inez), Dennis and Harvey, all of Cresco, Larry of Ankeny, Paul (Kelly) of Crown Point, Ind., Joel (Patty) of Ridgeway and Kevin of Waukon; three daughters, Marilyn (Joe) Kollasch of Ames, Norrine Kruse of Spokane, Wash., and Sheila Kruse of Shakopee, Minn.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a half brother, Raymond Herold of Waucoma.
Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Cresco, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Conway Funeral Home, Cresco, where there will be a 6 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. parish vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
